Granville Chapel is proud to support Christian workers all over the world including those serving in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Italy, Ukraine, Brazil, China, Montreal, and even Westside Vancouver high schools. The people of Granville Chapel support these friends through financial giving, ongoing encouragement and prayer. The Granville Chapel Missions Committee spearheads this effort. The Missions Committee also strives to raise awareness of missions and encourage short-term mission trips by members of the community.
This group has been meeting monthly since 1930. Its purpose is to pray for and keep in close touch with over 40 missionary women from this area. Dorcas has been supporting some women for almost 75 years. Others are young women who have recently gone into full-time ministry. Dorcas meets in the Lounge at Granville Chapel on the 2nd Friday of every month from 12:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 am. The 20-session terms begin in October and January, with students being placed in one of three levels from beginner to advanced. The registration fee is $40 and textbooks cost $35. Tuition is free. You are invited to stop by the program any Monday or Thursday to observe.
Our next course starts on October 3, 2011. Registration is available in person on September 12 at 9:30 am or on October 3 at 9:15 am.
Members of the Pastoral Care team give personal and caring support to others in the Granville Chapel community. They provide meals for new mothers, visit people in the hospital and otherwise provide spiritual and emotional support to those in need.
Couples who are engaged or considering marriage are invited to meet with a married couple for six to eight weeks of premarital mentoring. This a great opportunity to get marriage off to a good start. Please contact the church office if you are interested in this opportunity.
